Rector’s Welcome
Our congregation is a body made up of many members—people and households, as well as small groups formed for prayer, study, fellowship, and service. This website is designed to acquaint you with all of these parts of our common life and to invite you to join us–by commenting on our blog posts, by joining us for Sunday worship or by attending any of the other events and activities we offer throughout the year.
Sunday worship, including Kids Lead and Youth Lead services, are the heart of our congregation’s experience as a people of faith. Our other activities, undertaken here at St. Bede’s and as the baptized abroad in the world (activities that include Seekers Dinners, work in the Palo Alto Baylands, service trips to the Rosebud Lakota Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, our summer Eco-Camp, our Performing Arts Series, our Lecture Series and much more) all flow from that center of faith and practice, from the font of baptism and the nourishment of the sacred meal.
Water, bread and wine—the survival kit of travelers—symbolize for us the essentials of spiritual sustenance as a pilgrim people. When we gather in faith, to be refreshed by God and one another, we become sources of refreshment in our homes, schools, workplaces, our neighborhoods and our communities. We strive to take ever more seriously our baptismal commitment to grow in faith, hope and love through our own prayer lives, through the rich resources of the Christian faith, through community service and sacrificial giving.
Our aim is personal and communal transformation for the sake of the whole world. I invite you to join us in this great Gospel adventure.
- The Rev. Kitty Lehman, Rector
